Couple of things....

1. I am almost done with school! I have to have EVERYTHING finished by THIS Saturday! BUT after that I am done!!!!! YAY!!!! I can't wait!! Only a couple of more weeks until graduation! :D

2. I had to watch these previews for a new movie called "Race to Nowhere" and it is so interesting! They go on and on about how the tests that we give the students in our schools are pointless and that there are many students are failing! It is completely true and it makes me incredibly sad. One of the suggestions that a teacher in Oakland, CA had was that they put councilors and psychiatrists in schools so that students have help with the problems that they are having at home (considering the students are dealing with drive by shoots, parents incarcerated, money problems, etc.) then how can they concentrate on the essay that you just assigned to them to write about what they want to be when they grow up? They are just trying to live to tomorrow! :/ It is ridiculous that most of the people that are against the way that the education system is run, want to put MOST of the blame on the teachers that are teaching the classes, however the more previews I watch on this movie it shows that it is not always the teacher, yes there are times that the teacher does need to be changed, but for the most part, we have to think that as teachers we can only do so much with the resources and the material that the district, state, fed gov, make us work with! If you think about the way that things are run it is ridiculous! Before teachers didn't have to teach as much crazy curriculum that is left in their hands now! It is so sad :/ I really really hope that with all of these movies coming out something will soon change, because instead of NCLB and R2TT helping the education system, they are just making it easier to fail! And more and more schools being closed down, and more then that more teachers being laid off, and most are quality teachers. So sad when a teacher has to teach not to the best of their ability but the only way that they can get all of the information in and hope that their students can catch up because they can't slow down.

Okay..if you want to know more about this new movie I am talking about it's called Race to Nowhere and you can find it at this website :)
